CHATHAM — The Chatham Conservation Commission continued a contested coverage variance at 16 Harborview Road and a stairway-repair project at 743 Old Queen Anne Road. Commissioner Karen Lattin said she "absolutely can't support" the Harborview plan's two rinse stations or its jump in lot coverage from 49 percent to a proposed 66.9 percent. Commissioner Eric Hilbert countered that a planned meadow restoration should simply be fenced off and left to regenerate naturally rather than replanted, asking, "Why dig a bunch of holes in a beautiful meadow and put some plants in?" The commission approved certificates of compliance for 631 Riverview Drive and 467 Capri Lane, where representative Lauren Taylor confirmed a required irrigation system had been removed.
A vegetation-clearing violation at 186 Kendrick Road was continued to October 28 after commissioners said the property owner's fencing fell short of what they had requested.
