Conservation · Meeting of October 28, 2026

CHATHAM — The Chatham Conservation Commission voted 7-0 to send a proposed Coastal Resilience Zone bylaw to the Select Board for a November 10 presentation. Commissioners backed a 2050 sea-level-rise planning horizon over the Energy and Climate Action Committee's preferred 2070 timeline, with Commissioner Janet Williams saying "the further out the time frame you go, the less confidence you have in what you're doing." The board also rejected an ECAC-proposed right-of-entry clause for marsh research, with Commissioner Karen Lattin saying she would not support letting agents "wander on my property without notice." Separately, commissioners objected to a 91 Gillis Road amendment that would raise lot coverage from 45.4 percent to 55.8 percent, with Chair Paul Johnson calling it "hard to swallow," and continued that hearing to November 18. The commission also approved orders for 270 Stage Island Road and 16 Harborview Road, approved two Oyster Pond Furlong utility amendments, and approved the September 23 minutes 6-0 with one abstention.
