Planning Board · Meeting of September 28, 2026

Chatham's Planning Board opposed new driveways proposed for 53 Little Beach Road over safety concerns. The seven-member board, with every member present, voted 7-0 to authorize Chair Art Spruch to send the Zoning Board of Appeals a letter stating the board "cannot make a positive recommendation at this time," ahead of an October 8 ZBA hearing. Member Bob Dubis said adding driveways for four more cars on the narrow private way was "a little dangerous," citing pedestrians, cyclists and boat traffic.

The board separately voted 6-1 to release the remaining performance bond for the 200 Meetinghouse Road self-storage project, with Warren Chane abstaining. Building Commissioner Jay Briggs walked the board through proposed zoning bylaw definition changes covering pools, patios, eaves and mechanical-equipment setbacks. Spruch also committed to bringing West Chatham Neighborhood Center zoning to the May 2027 Annual Town Meeting.
