Other Committee · Meeting of October 14, 2026

Chatham Airport Commission accepted an engineer's report setting a Nov. 30 start for runway construction. Director of Aviation Matt Caron of Gale Associates told commissioners tree clearing will take 42 calendar days, run alongside a 20-day navigation-aid replacement, and close the runway Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., into mid-January. The commission voted 6-0 on roll call to accept the report, with Commissioner Farber absent.

The revolving fund has collected $31,236.37 so far this year, and Caron confirmed the airport's annual $150,000 federal entitlement remains intact for fiscal year 2027. Commissioners also revisited the Fly Friendly noise program at Select Board member Randy Potash's request; Commissioner Gatewood said "the amount of sweat that has been put in both from the community and from the commission has been really best foot forward," and volunteered to research noise rules at airports in Jackson Hole, Aspen, and Monterey.
